Learn a Little About Me
This is my story. Born in Cornwall by the sea (Porthtowan) and raised by parents just moved down from Manchester, it was almost inevitable I would develop a healthy respect for the surrounding area, being of such natural beauty. Little did I realize it would turn in to what I now understand to be a lifelong passion for plants.
I studied Geography, Computer Science and Maths at A-Level and then went on to study Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University. After university I travelled for a year around Indonesia and Australia picking fruit and coffee, however there are not many places in the world that can rival Kernow for scenery and our temperate climate allows for a great variety of plants to be grown too! I returned to Cornwall and 13 years ago now I started my own business as a self-employed gardener (with a little help from Prince Charles' trust to help small business').
I've never looked back since starting my gardening services business. There is always something new to see and learn and learning is one of my most favourite things. There is a seemingly infinite number of things of beauty happening in our gardens and learning about them is why I love my job. When I started out gardening I completed a City & Guilds (level 2) in gardening .
I have completed my RHS level 3 advanced Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture and it was a nice little surprise to win this award along the way. I am now studying for my RHS Master of Horticulture award.
I am also PA/1 and PA/6 qualified to safely and legally apply herbicides and pesticides.
